Essex Summerhouse

This Palladian pool house was inspired by the play of pediments and half-pediments on Palladio's Venetial church facades. Thus there is an Ionic order which takes the main pediment and a lesser order which takes the half-pediments, the impost mouldings becoming both impost and cornice. It is constructed in second-hand white brick and Portland stone.
