This was the last major country house designed by Raymond Erith, and on which Terry was involved in every part of the work. It is constructed in two-inch red bricks which are bonded into solid masonry, with plain wings and a contrasting centrepiece of Doric and Ionic superimposed Orders. Palladio's rules and proportions have been followed closely, with a minimum of innovation, but with regard to the adaptation of Italian and English construction and detail, have been combined with the English detailing of Inigo Jones. |
